They are welcomed into the home with introduction to the existing member. The beds are custom designed to give a feel of a small room. Every corner of the shelter home is designed in a way to feel and provide a sense of safety and belongingness for the survivors.
What This Looks Like in Practice
Bedrooms: We have bedrooms where our girls have their individual beds designed to feel like their own little private space along with privacy curtains, lighting, study table, and a cupboard.
Multi Propose Hall: It’s a place of indoor activity, doubles as a TV room, and majority of the learnings and fun happen here. This space is decorated with affirmation mantras, our survivor’s favorite quotes, and their crafts.
Dining Hall: It is a shared space with painting on the wall, and dim light fit for soothing moods. Our survivors along with staff members use this hall to share meals, conversations, emotions, and memories together.
Sky Room: This room is designed to feel like a sky with white and sky blue as a theme. When entering this room, anyone is hit with a sense of peace and calm. This room is majorly used for meditation, breathing, and sleep meditation purposes.
Silence Corner: This corner is meant for an individual to go and sit in silence, and to internalize emotions. This corner is themed as a white room to give a sense of space.
Interactive Walls and Painted Ceilings: The walls inside our home are decorated in themes of interaction to write about aspirations from our survivors, their individual dreams are documented and decorates our wall while ascending our stairs, the ceilings are painted in green art themes.
Outdoor Space: We have a huge outdoor space which homes a trampoline, a generous playground for outdoor games, and garden space for both sitting and planting.
