Our overall programs and strategies revolve around our survivors making them victim-centric in nature. All our programs are designed by keeping the survivors’ interest and well-being at its core. We practice a value system where the values that guide our survivors become pillars for us to plan our activities around. These are some of the activities through which we directly practice the involvement of our survivors in program planning and decision making:
What This Looks Like in Practice
Value Based Workshop: This was a practice where during the initial days we conducted a value-based workshop with all of our survivors. This workshop was themed as per our core values of love, beauty, joy, unlimited, awareness, and catalytic. What these values meant for our survivors in materials form were integrated into Aasara as much as possible.
Community Circle: Every Sunday, all the survivors and staff members are gathered in a circle and have a conversation on various topics. This particular activity is designed to let everyone who wants to participate in providing ideas, feedback, and whatever they want to put forward openly and equally. These are addressed in proper ways to value and integrate their points into the system of Aasara itself.
